Search Through Your Friend’s Diggs with ScanSocial

Posted by Charles on May 26th, 2010

If you are a fan of Digg, ScanSocial is a neat way to view recently dugg topics and favorites from your friends. Registering is possible but not necessary since you cannot link your Digg account to your ScanSocial account. It does, however, allow you to bookmark diggs that you find while browsing the site.

To get started digging, all you need to know is the person’s Digg username. You’ll then be able to see a list of their submitted items, favorite items and dugg items. It shows the date, number of diggs, title, submitter and topic. It would be pretty cool if it let you actually digg items from the site, but it doesn’t. You can use the sort feature on each column to sort items any way you prefer.

Other than that, you’re able to view the Digg front page items, Digg categories (and recent items in each) and your bookmarked items. When clicking on an item from the front page or categories page, it will take you to the actual web page. This is done within a frame via ScanSocial. You’ll notice the bar on top of the page that shows the user who submitted the item, a Facebook like button and then some sharing options. Alternately, you can also close out this bar altogether.

While ScanSocial is a clean way to view, bookmark and share diggs, I don’t see it as a site that I would use that often. How about you?
