Put Your Posts On Fire
Posted by Patrick on February 20th, 2008

Good news for bloggers, it looks like we now have a new social media site where we can submit our own posts without fearing a permanent ban.
Post On Fire is a new social bookmarking and networking site where users can vote stories much like Digg or Sphinn. However, Post On Fire is focused on content coming from blogs because bloggers can submit their own posts. Don’t be afraid, you won’t get banned for submitting your articles to Post On Fire.
Registration & Profile
Opening an account on Post On Fire is absolutely free and takes a minute of your time. Once you are a member, you can setup your profile to add your social media contacts, link to home page, and of course, you can add an avatar to replace the one set by default. I would strongly recommend changing the default avatar because this helps Post On Fire users to recognize your submissions. See in the image below how easy it is to recognize a user via a personalized avatar. If you like the content MrJavodotCom publishes, you’ll spot his submissions easily because he’s using his own image. Apply this basic strategy and you’ll certainly get more votes, or at leas, users’ attention.
Categories
Post On Fire is not aimed only at the blog meta niche. There are numerous categories in which you can submit your articles. Here’s a list of the current categories:
- Business & Money
- Arts
- Health & Fitness
- Entertainment
- Life
- Politics
- Sports
- Technology
- Gaming
- Blogging
- Pets
- Religion
Browsing Submissions
Just like any good social media sites, Post On Fire has different views where you can browse and vote posts that have gone viral (Hot Posts) and upcoming stories as well (Just Submitted.) You can also browse submissions by categories.
Now Is The Time
Post On Fire is relatively new, so now is the time to register an account. Why now?
- Competition is low
- You’ll get excellent exposure
- You’ll get votes
- You’ll find new regular readers and RSS subscribers
- Imagine if you could go back in time and setup a profile on Digg or Stumble. Chances are you would be seen as an influencer today. Join Post On Fire today and you might end up being a Top User very soon. Maybe they should call their power users Top Pyros, no?
Summary
Much like BloggingZoom, I think social media sites such as Post On Fire are nice tools for bloggers to grow their readership. You cannot compare the traffic generated by a site such as Post On Fire versus StumbleUpon because it is too recent. But new bloggers actively promoting their site to grow RSS subscribers should take advantage of sites like Post On Fire. Hey, it just takes a minute to submit your post and you’re done. Come on, join me over to Post On Fire and add me as a friend: bizpat72.

Thanks for the info. I am going to join up right away. Even if it doesn’t fully take off if it gains me one reader it will be worthwhile.

Good info… it’s funny man, cause I just wrote about social media sites and it’s “potential” traffic it can bring.

@ Jay: As I said, not yet the biggest traffic maker, but might get very popular soon. Hey what’s the link to your post on social media and potential traffic?
