May I Introduce Myself?

My Name is Patrick, owner of PiggyBankPie.com.

With a degree in Computer Science from University of Montreal (Canada), I’ve done lots of work for IT specialized firms since 1997. Already online before the Internet boom, I remember the early 1990s when the ntalk UNIX command was the way to chat. Good ol’ days are gone…

Throughout my career I’ve been involved in many Internet related projects. But it’s only two years ago that I’ve started reading blogs on a regular basis. I enjoyed it right away.

PiggyBankPie.com is the result of many months of reflection. With so many blogs out there emerging and black holing (hey here’s a nice term… blog hole*) before even being known from the blogosphere, I thought that one of the primarily issue of vanished bloggers is the lack of time and energy maintaining a blog requires for non-Dot Com Moguls. Many are probably thinking, blogging and making money online, wow… I want my part of the pie! I had that reflection too. But how could I do this without ending up as another blog hole?

Then I came up with the idea that a dynamic blogging community might be the answer. What do I mean by dynamic? Instead of the usual one writer VS all the readers, I think a group of paid writers, and thousands of readers (I hope one day) is a promising approach. And while at it, why not give a chance to bloggers looking for a first blogging gig? This dynamic strategy would help bloggers find an additional stream of income by being paid to post, and the combined energy of the dynamic blogging community would surely help to keep the PiggyBankPie project alive and growing.

*Note: Googling “blog hole” on September 29th 2007 returned only 735 results.
