SEM Rush

In the past week two new and very promising keyword tools have been released - Wordtracker’s Keyword Questions tool and SEM Rush, a competitor research tool.

Keyword Questions

Wordtracker’s new Keyword Questions tool takes an interesting new angle on keyword research, moving it into the realms of customer research.

Businesses always want to know what their customers are thinking and frequently send out questionnaires which people are notoriously against filling out. This tool potentially removes the need for these types of questionnaires in many instances, answering questions such as:

  • Have you ever wondered what readers in your niche are most interested in?
  • What concerns or queries do your customers / users have?
  • What would your customers most like you to provide?
  • Are you considering putting together a resource section for your site? What should you focus on covering?
  • How can you make sure that your content receives the most visibility in search engines?

The Keyword Questions tool provides a lot of the answers. By entering a keyword or keyword phrase you’ll instantly see a list of questions which people are asking online.

Take ‘Marketing’ as an example. Within the top 10 results are the questions ‘What is Customization in Marketing’ and ‘What is Service Marketing’ - a quick search on Google shows that getting into the top 10 for these phrases is certainly attainable, especially if you already have a high-authority site.

SEM Rush

Having just entered Beta testing, SEM Rush is a new competitor research tool. Its key features include:

  • The ability to see all the keywords for any website which are in the top 20 search results in Google.
  • A similar option is available for analyzing AdWords competitors, allowing you to see what competitors are bidding on different keywords and all the keywords that a single competitor is bidding on.
  • You can view your main competitors within organic search results, to see which websites have the most number of similar high ranking keywords to yourself.

It looks to be a very clever tool and is certainly worth checking out. You can currently register for free and see the top 10 results for every domain, with prices very reasonable for fully-comprehensive results.
