Create Longer Posts on your Micro-Blogs with Runt.ly
Posted by Charles on May 17th, 2010
Runt.ly is a quick and easy way to post text and images on Twitter, FriendFeed, Yammer and/or Plurk. It’s really nice because you don’t have to sign up to post items. You can simply use the textbox that is displayed on the site’s homepage. You can choose to use their rich text editor or the HTML editor, and it’s very easy to switch back and forth between the two.
After entering your text and/or images, your item will be posted and you’ll be given a short URL for sharing. Alternately, you can also directly share it on Digg, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Facebook, Reddit, MySpace or Tumblr directly from the site.

If you prefer, you can register so that your post can be saved and displayed with your username. Without registering, your posted is simply displayed as “by guest”. There is also a comment section (powered by IntenseDebate) where users can leave comments on your post.
Runt.ly is best for when you want to post something longer than average to Twitter. Since Twitter only allows 140 characters, it is often hard to get your point across in such a short amount of letters. It’s also nice to be able to see what others are posting. You can view these from recent posts section (if you’re not logged in) or public stream (if you are logged in).
You will also get your own profile page that shows how long you’ve been a member and how many posts you’ve published. Others will be able to see your recent posts and click on them to leave comments. Surprisingly, the site doesn’t allow you to add a profile picture, but there is a section to write a little about yourself.
Sharing has never been easier and posting longer tweets has never been so simple.
