TNX.net: An Interesting Avenue For Webmasters And Advertisers

Posted by Patrick on January 13th, 2008

TNX.net is an advertising network that sells text ad links on web sites. Interestingly for website owners, they have developed a system that allows publishers (site owners) to become advertisers in an original and very cost effective way.

In this article I’ll be telling you about both the publisher’s and the advertiser’s camp of TNX.net, and I will also dig into their affiliate program.

Point System

Whether you are a publisher or an advertiser, the system uses points to either charge or pay you. As an example, webmasters can use the points they earned in one of the following 3 ways:

  • Purchase Advertising: The point database is integrated, which means you gain points by selling ads, and the same points could be used to purchase advertising on the network;
  • Cash Points: 2 options here, you can either sell your points to TNX.net and get paid electronically (e.g. PayPal), - OR - you can sell you points to other TNX members;
  • Accumulate: You can finally decide to accumulate your points and capitalize on potential growth.

Your first step is to register an account with TNX, this step is absolutely free and can be achieved by going to the registration page. The signup process is quick and in less than a minute you get to your dashboard where both publishing and advertising options are unified in a very intuitive interface.

Once you are registered, adding TNX.net on your site is a piece of cake, you can do so by using either their Perl or PHP code. The nice thing about TNX.net is you can decide to sell links on as many pages as you like, which can therefore be more profitable than selling site wide links.

The price for selling ads on your site is handled by TNX. Their formula is based on your Google PageRank, so obviously, the higher you rank, the more you accumulate points. TNX takes their part of the pie by keeping 12.5% of the text ad links sold on your site.

One nice feature I noted is that you have total control on who is advertising on your site. This way you can control the relevance of your ads, and even block or ban websites from being featured on your site. TNX.net has also a strict advertising policy preventing Internet polluters from advertising on their network.

TNX.net does not restrict you from using other monetization solutions, you can combine their service with AdSense or any other advertising sponsor.

Becoming a TNX.net Advertiser TNX Advertisers

As mentioned above, advertising requires that you purchase TNX points that would be use to pay for your campaigns. The Ad Campaign Wizard makes the setup process easy enough. Setting up a campaign requires that you first enter the following information:

  • Website categories: Categories of websites where your campaign will be displayed;
  • Geo-target: Language of hosts displaying your campaign;
  • Points: The number of points you wish to purchase. 1000 points (the minimum) is currently $1.34;
  • Yahoo Backlinks (YB) and Google PageRank (PR): You decide if you prefer to advertise on low or high YB and PR sites. You can customize combos to have x numbers of PR1 and y number of PR 5 sites for instance. Throughout this process, a dynamic calculator tells you how many links you would get for the number of points you have selected.

The next step is where you define the actual text, anchor link and URL of your ad. Finally, you’ll be choosing the number of links you wish to spread in each of the categories of websites, subcategorized by Yahoo Backlinks and Google Pagerank. Again, the intuitive interface makes this process fairly easy. Once you are done, your campaign goes through the approval process before your ad gets pushed out to publishers.

After setting up a campaign for Piggy Bank Pie Writing Services, I can say that the advertising costs are very reasonable.

Becoming a TNX.net AffiliateTNX Affiliate Program

This is one feature that I especially like. By referring publishers to TNX.net, you get a commission of 13.3% of all TNX-points, he/she will earn in the future. Also, if you refer advertisers, you receive 5% of all their payments. If you promote TNX.net heavily, this could become a very interesting monetization solution for your site. You can learn more on this affiliate marketing opportunity by visiting the TNX.net affiliate Program Page.

The reasonable costs of TNX.net gives it a fair advantage over the competition. Whether you are looking at getting the word out, increasing PageRank or monetizing your site, you should consider registering with TNX.net.

    I don’t if that’s coincident or something. After I put up the TNX link on my blog, my Google Page rank drop to 0 from 4. It’s dead.

    I am removing the TNX link and see if my PR will go back up soon. I also found that the traffic to text-link-ads dot com is going down. Does that mean selling text link ads is not a good option anymore? I really hope that I am wrong with this.

    I have post my assumption at Text link ads may kill your Google Page Rank

    Please correct me, if I totally take it the wrong direction. Thanks!

    If you are to buy or sell links, TNX is much better than linkworth and TLA. I have tried all systems and looks like TNX is the best.
