There is no doubt that making a website or blog is a great way to make money online. However, not every website/blog is going to be successful and make you a millionaire.

The thing that prevents most people from even trying is the cost of making a website. You can buy a domain name at places like GoDaddy for around $15. Like most hosting/domain registering services, GoDaddy gives you a free 5 page website or blog with each domain name. As good as that sounds, when you go to set up your free page you will find out that there is a catch. Until you pay for the hosting, you are not allowed to put any ads or anything like that up on your page, along with other rules. So, it is really a tease.

There are (free) alternatives for those that do not want to mess with the technical side of setting up a website and do not mind a having a sub-domain. Squidoo is good because it is easy. After you sign up you can create lenses about whatever you want, even adult and X rated subjects. Lenses are one page with what seems to be endless space. It is a simple layout, so do not expect anything fancy. Squidoo members are paid on a revenue sharing bases, they explain it in detail on their FAQ.

A cool thing about Squidoo is that you can set it up so a percentage of your percentage go’s to a charity of your choice. Of course, you do not have to give any of your percentage to a charity. Your Lens earns from the modules that have feeds from places like eBay, Amazon, CafePress, Netflixs, etc… each have there own module that you can add, delete, and customize to your lens at will. An added plus: if you have your own eBay or CafePress store, you can set up the modules to feeds your stuff. I do not know all of eBay’s rules, but you could use a Squidoo lens as an eBay Store. Just put a link to your lens in your eBay auction ad and set the modules to feed your auctions to that lens. If it is not against any eBay rules, you could make a commission on your own auctions.

I found a woman that sells these patterns to cute crocheted bears. Anyone that crochets will want to make one. She gets you hooked (pun intended) by publishing an easy to make pattern on her lens, then offers more at a cheap price. I doubt if this has made her a millionaire but it is a great set up, most of the ‘work’ is already done. After the initial creation of the patterns, all she has to do is sit back and receive the money and send out copies from her stash of patterns. Occasionally, offering new patterns.

So, if you have any original patterns or designs that go along with a hobby or anything like that, you may want to get yourself a Squidoo lens and see if you can make some money there.
