Top 3 Must-Reads for New Bloggers

Posted by Patrick on October 4th, 2007

I have spent countless hours this summer preparing the PiggyBankPie.com project. Since I had no past blogging experience, except as a blog reader for the past 2 years, I started looking for articles to help me learn the basics for becoming a NewBlogger, hoping one day to be known as a ProBlogger.

I got caught

Yep! I got caught by sponsored links while googling for blogging tips. I don’t remember exactly what my search keywords were, but I ended up paying about $50 for a crappy ebook. I prefer not to write the ebook’s title, this way I won’t get into trouble. But just for the record, when looking at the ebook’s affiliate statistics [at clickbank], the refund percentage is at 71%.

However, I also found a few invaluable sources of information on the subject. And guess what? They were all FREE of charge. So if you are looking for blogging tips because you are considering launching your own blog, or if you are an established blogger looking for additional sources of information, check out these 3 sources, they’re the best out there… and they’re free!

  • Darren Rowse’s Blogging Tips for Beginners
A collection of 35 articles published on
Problogger.net sorted in 6 specific categories. Written by number of well established writers, including Darren Rowse. They’re a must-read for any NewBlogger who’s about to jump into the Blogosphere.

  • Make Money Online with John Chow dot Com
John Chow’s ebook is also a must-read. I would even say that you shouldn’t launch your blog if you haven’t read the whole thing. It is a 59-pager in which you’ll find tons of information from one of the most influential blog writer these days.

And the last but not least…

  • Blog Traffic Made Easy from SiteFever.com
This one will get you a bit deeper into the world of blog traffic optimization. While this 22-pager covers the basics of blogging and how to setup your blog from scratch, it also focuses on traffic optimization with numerous secrets that will help you bring targeted visitors… without paying a buck!

Remember…

Before buying an ebook containing the secret formula to help you build a multi million dollar blogging empire, take a moment to process the nice and inviting pitch page you just read, and ask yourself: should I really buy this guy’s ebook while there are so many blogs and free resources out there covering the very same topic?
