My 5 Favourite WordPress Plugins
Posted by Patrick on December 2nd, 2007
I have tried a fair deal of WordPress Plugins recently and found a few ones that are worth mentioning. So I thought I’d share the info, thinking it might be useful for some of you. The Plugins listed below are all currently in used on PiggyBankPie, so I can recommend them knowing they are safe and stable.
Add Sign
This plugin adds a signature at the bottom of your posts. On PiggyBankPie, it basically handles the portion starting from Never miss a post, subscribe to receive…. and until the last sponsor (the usual group of 4 sponsors I end all posts with. Before using Add Sign I was copy/pasting this block of text and links at the end of each post, and it was a real pain.
FeedBurner FeedSmith
This one is really neat, it basically redirects you /feed folder to FeedBurner (useful if you are using FeedBurner to handle your RSS Feed). if for instance a reader goes to your blog and clicks the browser’s RSS icon appearing when it detects an RSS feed, then the user will be redirected to your FeedBurner feed page, increasing your total number of subscribers.
RSS Feed Signature
I have installed this one to convince you guys to subscribe to my RSS feed either by receiving all articles by email, or by getting them into your RSS reader. Feed Signature allows me to add content only in the RSS feed.
Math Comment Spam Protection
You have no idea how many spam comments I was getting before I installed this wonderful plugin. Just try to submit a comment, you can’t miss it. It simply asks readers to answer a simple math question when leaving a comment. This plugin + Akismet = 0 spam.
Subscribe To Comments
This is the last one I have installed. Again, if you try to leave a comment you won’t miss it. It adds an option for readers to be notified by email when new comments are being added after their own comment.
Do you use other plugins not listed above that you couldn’t live without? Please share by posting a comment.
Don't miss a post in 2008, subscribe to receive PiggyBankPie's articles by Email. Using an RSS reader? Subscribe to our Full RSS Feed.

I use Flexo Archives, StatPress and ClickQuote.
Flexo Archives: Collapsible, grouped by year then month. You can add no. of posts next to the months but annoyingly, the numbers go to the next line instead of to the side like the one you have here under Post Categories. (Any help?)
StatPress: Real-time stats. You can display items such as daily visits, total visits, since when, visitors online etc.
ClickQuote: Automatically copy the paragraphs you clicked directly into the comment box. Useful for quoting.

Hi Awangku
I need to create an archive page that lists all my posts by month, could Flexo archive help me with that? As for my Post Category, it was done by the guy who designed my theme and I believe he wrote the PHP code for it.
Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
Apparently Flexo Archive does not list all the posts by month in one page. It’s not even a list, actually. You know.. like the results you get when you do a Google search. I’m still browsing around for a plugin that does that. Hey, looks like we’re looking for the same thing
I’ll let you know if I find it.

Please, let me know.
Thanks

Oops.. I hit the submit button too soon.
I’m still trying to figure out how to make ALL posts appear in the list instead of 10 posts per page. No luck so far. I have never done any php programming before, so I’m just doing some trials and errors right now.

Hi, of course you can call me Pat!
That looks good, which plugin are you using?
Thanks
Pat

Thanks. I’m not using any plugin, actually. I copied the archive.php file from my old blog’s template (ChaoticSoul by Bryan Veloso) and tweaked the codes a bit. Fortunately it worked
I can pass you the code, if you want.
Maybe somebody out there who knows php can create a plugin that works like that. It’d be good to have.
