So you have a website built, you’ve been established for awhile, but you’re wondering how to get more traffic.

You do this by having as many back links to your site as possible. What are “back links?” These are links that are on other sites but lead back to your site. Your goal, if you want to have a high page ranking in Google, is to have as many back links to your url as possible.

Some ways to accomplish this are; submitting your site to search engines, directories, blogs, write articles, etc.

Let’s look at these individually.

Once you have a website built, you should fill the content with rich keywords. Before building your website you should brain storm about what words you want people to find your site with.

Example

You have a flower shop website. Your key words would be flower shop, roses, tulips, daisies, weddings, births, deaths, anniversaries, etc.

When people want to find things they use search engines like Google, msn, yahoo. More than 50% of people use Google. Now that you have your keywords, you want your website to pop up #1 when people Google words like “flower shop.” Only perhaps the competition is lots, and your website is buried.

How do you get your site to be the top listings, or at least near the top? You need to submit your URL to everything you possibly can. You need to make Google think you are “important.” The more “important” you are, the higher your Google listing. To change your status you need:

1. lots of back-links
2. lots of links from important sites

Okay let’s focus on the first one. You need lots of back-links. Once you have a domain with your URL, go to Google and type “submit url”. You will get thousands of sites that you can submit your URL too. Than you will find directories, and you’ll do the same thing.

Directory Submitter is the best tool I have ever gotten. If you’re like me and you’ve tried submitting your site to everything, but get tired of typing; this program is for you. You can type what you want it to say, and it generates all the fields for you. Plus you don’t have to go searching for the website, it has a built in directory.

Now by using directory submitter you can literally change your page ranking in a day or two. Trust me I have done this myself with my website.

The other thing you can do to increase your page ranking is, writing articles. There are many places on the web like searchwarp.com, helium.com, amazines.com and many more that take free articles. Again by doing this you are creating more back links. Write one or two articles and copy and paste them in all the article databases. Always make sure to have a writer resource box which lists your URL, so if people want to learn more, they come to your site.

Okay, now that you’ve submitting your site to every directory possible, it’s time for step #2. You need to get your link on important sites. If you are a Wordpress site, you have an advantage because Google indexes you fairly quickly.

Important sites are bigger sites that have lots and lots of content and traffic. Think monster.ca, workopolis.ca, craigslist.org, etc. This is where forming partnerships or joining a link referral site might not be a bad idea.
