How To Get Blog Content Without Writing It Yourself

However committed you are to your blog, there may be times when you just don’t have the time to write something new. Worse yet, you may not be able to think of anything to write. Bloggers’ block can affect any of us and while we hope it won’t last too long, it is best to have a few ideas for getting some content the easy way.

Bookmark And Post

Social bookmarking sites like Delicious make it easy for you to schedule a regular post of the links you have shared. You can customize how this appears and then you can just let it run. It’s fresh content with a couple of mouse clicks. You can also do the same with Google Reader and for sites that don’t offer it, you may be able to create a widget to share that same content in the sidebar.

Ask The Twitterverse

Another option is to ask a question. Twitter is great for this, as you can soon get lots of replies to a burning issue. Then all you have to do is collect the answers and post them to your blog. The respondents are happy if you link to their profiles, and it’s another easy option for you. Just call it crowdsourcing - microblogging style.

Contests And Writing Projects

Running a contest or a group writing project requires a bit more input from you in arranging prizes and setting out the rules. However, once a contest is running you can post updates about the leaders at regular intervals. With a group writing project, just post updates with people’s submissions to the project. You may have to spend some time visiting other blogs, but it’s an easy way to generate posts.

Hire A Guest Blogger

If you really have neither the time nor the inclination to write posts, then hire someone to do it for you. There are many writers and bloggers who will be happy to contribute to your blog in return for a small fee and a link to their own blog. They get exposure; you get content and everyone is happy.

These are great ways to get blog content easily. What strategies do you use when you don’t feel like blogging?
