Do You Blog Badly? I hope you don’t. But someone I know does, and it’s quite interesting.

Dat Money Contest

My Friend Jay over at DatMoney.com ran a contest where you could win reviews on quite an impressive number of blogs. Piggy Bank Pie was one of them, and we have a winner: Max Miroff from Blog Badly.com

Blog Badly: Like ProBlogger, But Funny

Max’s blog combines blogging tips and tricks with humour, a proven recipe that’s very efficient for John Cow. It sounds to me like a very interesting avenue. Too many bloggers these days are proclaiming themselves Pro Bloggers, and their blog often suffers from a lack of original and in-depth content. If you’d like to read my take on Humour Blogging, check out this very popular post I wrote last February: Using Humour To Extend Your Reach.

Blog Badly was launched in December 2007 and ever since then, Max has published very interesting content. Some titles/series caught my attention:

Blog Design Basic Series:
Blog Design Basics: Color
Blog Design Basics: Font
Blog Design Basics: Why Your Blog Design Sucks

How To Blog On Vacation Series:
How To Blog On Vacation: Part One - Always Inform Your Readers
How To Blog On Vacation: Part Two - Talk About The Airports
How To Blog On Vacation: Part Three - The Hotel
How To Blog On Vacation: Part Four - Post Some Pictures, Tell Some Stories

And also
How To Effectively Comment On High PR DoFollow/CommentLuv Blogs For Backlinks

Blog Badly Services

Max offers some blogging services, much like a blog consultant. One that I find particularly interesting is the chat session. You can pay yourself a chat with max for $30 and try to extract everything he knows about blogging tips and how to make money online. Just hope that Max has fast typing skills :-)

A Tiny Recommendation

There’s very few I can say to improve blog Badly but if I may, I’d rethink the widget area on the right hand side of the screen. One widget I really like when visiting a new blog is a Most Popular Post section. This is very useful to new readers and points them straight to your best work. It is often enough to convert a new readers into RSS subscribers. Max has very good content and series that could be promoted with such a widget.

To make some room for Most Popular Posts, I’d cast away the following widgets: Top Commentators, Customer Satisfaction, and possibly the What Am I Doing? feed.

Check out Blog Badly regularly or subscribe to the RSS feed, it’s a great place to find very interesting content… like ProBlogger, but Funny.
